Dear Partners,
Water holds a unique value for everyone—what does it mean to you?
Maybe it’s a cornerstone of your culture, an essential part of personal hygiene, or even just a daily reminder to be thankful for the awe-inspiring natural ecosystems it supports. No matter what water means to you personally, we believe it deserves to be celebrated globally.
World Water Day (WWD) is an annual United Nations initiative where the aim is to do exactly that; to celebrate this precious natural resource and raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to clean water. This year, it will be celebrated on 22 March under the theme of “valuing water”.
We’re partnering with UN Water to stand behind our purpose to treat water with a respect that honours its true value, and support WWD’s core focus to achieve water and sanitation for all by 2030. Starting with a beach cleanup in Cape Town, Topia staff and family are making small efforts that have a much bigger impact.
In addition to this, we’re turning our attention to the relationship between water and children.
You might not know this, but Topia is a family-run business with a strong sense of community. The social arm of our organisation is local non-profit Focus on iThemba, where the vision is to “Grow Hearts and Minds” by investing in quality education for children. To both protect and celebrate clean water on World Water Day, we are donating sustainable water bottles to the children and staff of Focus on iThemba’s newest pre-school, Project Star.
No matter what water means to you, make sure to celebrate it this World Water Day!
